Bill Fish
Commercial Project Manager, J-Berd Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
Bill Fish brings a wide range of experience and a strong work ethic to his role as Project Manager at J-Berd. After serving in the military, he began his career in the trades with J-Berd—progressing from apprentice to journeyman to master, with hands-on experience as an installer and estimator. Bill’s background has prepared him to lead a diverse range of commercial projects, each with its own unique design challenges and code requirements. A standout moment in his career was working on the Ethan Glyn Home, a meaningful and memorable project. He’s motivated every day by the opportunity to learn, the support of a knowledgeable team, and the excitement of new projects. Outside of work, Bill enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He also finds fulfillment in helping veterans and supporting elderly neighbors in his community. His approach to work is grounded in simple but powerful principles: work hard, pay attention, and be on time.
Brock Iverson
General Manager, Berd Electric, LLC.
Brock Iverson’s career in the electrical industry began early, working alongside his father as an apprentice electrician. He furthered his education with an electrical degree from a technical school, propelling his career from journeyman to foreman, supervisor, and ultimately, General Manager of Berd Electric, a thriving operation with several hundred electricians. As a licensed master and contractor in 11 states, Brock maintains a keen awareness of the latest code and compliance changes within the National Electrical Code. Under his leadership, the company has successfully completed over 700 projects across the Upper Midwest, demonstrating a commitment to growth and excellence.
Derek Berdan
Project Manager, J-Berd Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
Derek Berdan brings a well-rounded background in mechanical contracting to his role as Project Manager at J-Berd, having served in a wide range of positions including warehouse/prefabrication technician, service technician, plumbing field installer, and assistant project manager. This hands-on experience has given him a deep appreciation for each role on the team and how they contribute to successful outcomes for clients. Derek is driven by the camaraderie and commitment to quality that defines the J-Berd team, and he finds it especially rewarding to hear customers express excitement about partnering with them. Outside of work, Derek enjoys staying active through outdoor activities like water skiing and hunting—and as a dad of three toddlers, he’s also mastered the art of multitasking.
Eric Stearns

Eric Stearns brings deep expertise in HVAC systems to his role as Project Manager at J-Berd, building on years of hands-on experience as an installer and foreman before transitioning into project management in 2018. One of his most memorable projects was in Deerfield, WI, where the team overcame significant challenges involving large-scale HVAC equipment—an experience that showcased collaboration and growth. Eric is motivated by the ever-evolving nature of the industry, which pushes him and his team to continually innovate and deliver exceptional systems. Outside of work, Eric stays active with his five kids, enjoying time outdoors and summer fishing trips.

James Rachey has brought over 25 years of construction industry experience to the team, with a dedicated focus on plumbing and mechanical for the past 20 years. He has honed his expertise within our region, while also contributing to projects across 10+ states. With a proven track record of managing thousands of units, he possesses a deep understanding of design-build construction, including its complexities and intricacies. James is a highly respected advisor to our clients, consistently striving to deliver the highest value and optimize building performance.
Jeremy Hartneck
Project Manager, J-Berd Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
Jeremy Hartneck brings over two decades of HVAC expertise to his role as Project Manager at J-Berd. He began his career in HVAC installations in 2000, working his way up to foreman and then supervisor of the entire HVAC division before moving into project management. This progression has given him a comprehensive understanding of system implementation and hands-on experience that enhances every project he leads. One standout project in his career was Boutwell’s Landing in Oak Park Heights, MN—an award-winning build featuring some of the largest equipment he’s worked with. Jeremy thrives on the strong relationships he’s built with both coworkers and clients, and he remains passionate about his craft thanks to the great team around him. Outside of work, he enjoys archery hunting and spending time outdoors.
Ken Eggert
Electrical Project Manager, Berd Electric, LLC.
Ken Eggert brings over two decades of electrical industry experience to his role as Electrical Project Manager at Berd Electric. Since joining the company in 2015, Ken has been a key contributor to many successful projects, drawing on his field experience that dates back to 2001. One of his most memorable achievements was leading the Cedar Falls, IA Holiday Inn and Convention Center project—a complex, ground-up design-build that required meticulous attention to brand standards and technical details. Ken takes pride in showcasing how the Berd Electric team consistently delivers value, saving time and money for clients while exceeding expectations. Outside of work, Ken enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and traveling with his family to explore new places.
Kipp Kasner
Project Manager, J-Berd Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
Kipp Kasner has been a valued member of the J-Berd team since 2008, starting his career as an apprentice HVAC installer and steadily advancing through the roles of Journeyman and Foreman before stepping into project management. With over 16 years of field experience, Kipp brings a practical, customer-focused approach to every project—helping clients identify systems that align with both their needs and budgets. He’s passionate about delivering high-performing solutions and enjoys working with a team that shares the same commitment to excellence. Outside of work, Kipp enjoys time with his family, boating and fishing on the lake, golfing, and volunteering with his wife at their local church.
Luke Aleckson, P.E.
Project Manager, J-Berd Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
Luke Aleckson brings a well-rounded background in engineering, design, and project management to his role at J-Berd Mechanical. A mechanical engineering graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, Luke began his career in HVAC and mechanical systems at a semiconductor facility, later becoming a lead mechanical design engineer for large-scale data center projects. His diverse experience—spanning end user, design, and contracting roles—gives him a unique ability to connect the dots and drive effective, collaborative solutions. One of his most meaningful projects was a design-build student resource center in Mankato, where he helped give back to the same community that launched his career. Luke thrives in J-Berd’s integrated team environment, where close coordination between design, field, and project management teams helps deliver better outcomes for clients. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, hunting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends—and once even climbed Mount St. Helens.
Michael Loren
General Manager, Security Fire Sprinkler, LLC.
Michael Loren has dedicated his career to fire protection, getting his start in the industry at just 18 years old after a chance conversation while ice fishing led him to explore the field. Since then, he has built a lifelong passion for protecting people and properties, playing a pivotal role in the growth and success of Security Fire Sprinkler. One of the defining moments in his career was leading the Edgewater project in West Des Moines, IA—the company’s largest and most complex undertaking at the time, which firmly established Security Fire Sprinkler as a trusted name in fire protection. Outside of work, Michael is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending his time fishing, hunting, and making the most of every opportunity to be on the water.
Nathan Nordlund

Nathan Nordlund brings over 26 years of experience in the electrical industry to the team, including two decades as the owner/operator of his own contracting business. Now serving as a Project Manager at Berd Electric, he draws on his extensive background to lead with confidence and precision. Nathan takes pride in the positive, passionate culture at J-Berd and the strong sense of teamwork that drives every project. He finds continued inspiration in the stability of the trades and the tangible impact of seeing completed projects throughout the community. Outside of work, Nathan keeps busy with his three kids’ activities, home improvement projects, and any chance to enjoy the outdoors—whether that’s hunting, fishing, or relaxing by the lake.
Taylor Schumacher

Taylor brings a wealth of hands-on experience and leadership to his role as Project Manager at Security Fire Sprinkler, LLC., having held positions across nearly every area of the business—including installer, warehouse, purchasing, design, and now project management. His diverse background has given him a deep understanding of how each piece fits together to bring a project from concept to completion. A key achievement in his time at Security Fire Sprinkler, LLC. has been developing the company’s field staff training program, a reflection of his passion for mentorship and helping others grow. Taylor is driven by the opportunity to shape the built environment and protect people through fire protection systems.
